Giving Local Charity an ‘Elfing’ Hand this Christmas

Did you know that over the festive season the UK creates 30% more waste than usual, including around 1 billion Christmas cards that end up in the bin but could be recycled?

As a business we already do as much as we can to reduce waste in our office and this year we’ve taken the decision to spend the money we would have spent on Christmas cards to support a local charity.

The Super Berries – Helen, Liv and Jeanette have been regularly adding food and toiletry items to a collection box for the Julian Trust Night Shelter. We’ve enlisted the help of our office Elf to help pack the box!

The Julian Trust Night Shelter runs an emergency night shelter in the centre of Bristol for homeless people and rough sleepers. The night shelter has recently re-opened after an extensive refurbishment and this winter and Christmas season will provide a roof, bed and warm meal for people in need. Our collection will be added to others from Pure Offices Portishead and Anne of Anne Cleans Houses is organising the delivery of all the donations on 20th December.

The Christmas collection is a wonderful scheme that helps the charity to keep providing for those in need at what can be a difficult time of year. Usefully they provide a list of what’s most needed. The year MOST URGENT ITEMS included: tinned tomatoes, tinned tuna, tinned Chilli con Carne, plastic dessert spoons and tinned teat like ham or spam.

Of course, Elf has added a few items of his own – including chocolate biscuits which we think will go down well with a steaming cuppa.

We hope that even though you will not receive a card from us this year, you will support our decision to help those in need in our local community.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
